Some of my earliest memories are of being taken round my grandparents garden to admire all the flowers and herbs growing there, and of my grandmother mixing up lotions and potions for all the families ills. Then there was my own family with a garden half devoted to self sufficiency and an upbringing very much rooted in nature and the natural cycles. From an early age I developed a love for and connection with nature.
In my early career I studied anatomy and physiology leading me to work as a beauty therapist, however this left me feeling unfulfilled and disconnected with nature. While pursuing further studies leading me to Plymouth University and a degree in Marine Biology (the sciences always having been my natural affinity), I also began to explore more spiritual studies and undertook training as a Reiki therapist achieving both levels 1 and 2 and later went on to study my Reiki Masters level. Alongside this I also studied crystal healing, energy healing techniques and learned the benefits of regular meditation practice.
A few years later my life took a different course leading me inland away from the sea and bringing up a family. It was then after 10 years of nurturing my family that the opportunity to study a degree in Herbal Medicine at Middlesex University arose, followed shortly after by studies in Iridology and Indian Head Massage. I am now very excited to have the opportunity to bring all my past and present learning together in my own Complementary Therapy business where I hope to be able to share my knowledge and passion.
I studied a 4 year Postgraduate Degree in Professional Practice in Herbal Medicine at Middlesex University. This included completing 500 hours of supervised clinical training.
I learned a knowledge of how to assess individuals medically and holistically to allow me to determine how the person came to develop the imbalance/illness and be able to address the root cause.
Medical knowledge gained through training allows me to diagnose a condition but more importantly it enables me to recognise any danger signs of potentially serious conditions, allowing me to refer on to a GP if necessary.
Traditional knowledge of the healing powers of plants and nature has declined rapidly in recent history, I feel strongly about keeping this knowledge alive and bringing it back to people.
My aim is to get people re-connected to nature and the lost knowledge of the healing power of plants on their doorstep, while empowering them to take control of their own health and well-being.
